Celebrating 30 Years in the Art of the Dance & Classical Music

Paul James Dwyer

Dance Company Since 1983
Paul-James Dwyer, Founder/Artistic Director

dance OREMUS danse, founded in 1983, is dedicated to the artistic legacy of Isadora Duncan (1877-1927) the progenitor of Modern dance. We espouse her philosophy of art based in the spirit, the holistic integration between body/mind/spirit and the intimate connection between the sacred/secular, all cultures/races, nature, the past/present/future. Duncan's work remains the root system of all Modern dance and is particularly relevant for its therapeutic qualities. Choreography is based on mythology, text or the human/divine and concentrates on direct communication, true connection with the audience.

The company has formed extensive library/art/music/dance collections, donating or acting as agent in the acquisition of dance materials in Canada, Germany and the USA. It has promoted educational associations with universities and museums in Japan, Sweden, Germany and Canada and child based studies and touring worldwide.

As a not-for-profit arts organization, we play a vital role in society, nourishing the heart and soul of the community while being passionately devoted to the promotion of dance and classical music. Art is for all humanity. It is part of the legacy of past, the consolation of today and the ability to realize every man, woman and child's maximum potential. It is your support that creates a world where doors are open to everyone, opportunity is abundant and the ability to realize that potential is unlimited.

dance OREMUS danse is now developing an art facility in the country (Southern Ontario) for child based education in Duncan Dance, Classical Music and Painting.

The facility will be year-round in operation with master-classes and summer schools, festivals and dance classes for all age-groups. The company is openly negotiating with Duncan companies, scholars and professional dancers to mount an international conference and symposium in 2011 at the site. dance OREMUS danse also plans to offer programs to give inner-city children the opportunity to explore the arts in a country setting.
